I am currently a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), working one on one with children who have autism. What this means is that I work under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and teach/implement the interventions that they create specific to each child.
The Global Autism Project sends teams of motivated people around the world to help other countries grow in their understanding of and learning strategies for working with children with autism. It may be surprising to some to know that in some other places autism is so misunderstood that schools will not see the child, parents hide the child away/tie them to trees when they leave, or believe they are possessed.
While we are fortunate enough to have extensive research and a greater understanding, it is important for us to share these resources with other parts of the world. This is what SkillCorps and the Global Autism Project are aiming to do!
I will be traveling to Tanzania to try and help achieve this mission! Any donation is greatly appreciated and with the help of whatever you can donate, you will be helping support this mission and bring the necessary education and resources to others.
