Last Summer, I traveled for the first time as a Skillcorps member with the Global Autism Project! Now that I've recently become a BCBA, I know my journey with this organization is not done, and I will be traveling again in 2020 to another partner site in Ecuador! Over the last few years, I have realized the importance of evidence-based education and teaching practices for children with autism, and I cannot wait to continue to share my experiences and knowledge with other educators who want to bring Applied Behavior Analysis into their communities. I think we've all had "Aha!" moments while learning and growing up, and I'm excited to witness and facilitate some of these moments while working with teachers and students in Ecuador. Autism awareness and education is not as common in other parts of the world, as it is in the United States, however, I hope you will consider supporting my personal fundraising campaign, which will ensure that resources, education, and collaboration can continue with Global Autism Project's partner sites, which are formed by local community members and educators who are committed and dedicated to changing the lives of children with autism in their communities! I may only be volunteering two weeks of my time for on-site support, but the mission of the Global Autism Project continues year-round, and Ecudaor, Manta's educators work all year long to advocate for and teach their students.
